Greetings! So I just replaced my head gasket and put things back together. It started and ran for a few seconds, then smoke started to come out of the voltage regulator. Anyone knows the reason? FYI I also removed the alternator along the way and put it all back together with the best of my knowledge.

The easiest way to smoke a regulator is to ground out the "F" wire going from the regulator to the alternator. It's usually orange/lightblue.

When you let the smoke out, they are toasted and you need a new one.

What is the red wire with the blue 1/4" connector ?
