Small engine and big tires

yea i hear ya frank it sucks i ripped it apart and put it back together three times before i got the timing on the money......got that fixed and running smooth again.....anyway, i was looking in the tech forums and seen the gear calculator.....i think im going to down size to 36's and go with 4.88's...it said that the actual ratio should be aroud 4.0.....i plugged what i have in now and it said it was less than a 3.73 which blew my mind......right now im running into problems with what im wanting to do. first my dad doesn't really like me working on my truck just because he can't do the same to his (p.o.s.) chevy so he is probally going to flip his lid when he finds out about this, second i work at mcdonalds so it's hard to save up money for the axles when you make just enough to pay your truck insurance and gas......but i really wanna do this.....im now condisering the easiest and cheapest way to do the sas so ill let the arguement begin with which flex better out of coil springs or leafs and if i went with coils what size would i need to clear the 36's....one last question......if i get an 8.8 with matching gears in it could i run that with the stock front end until i save up for the d44?

If it's got the same gears....... yep. But you wont be able to wheel it without carnage with 36's.

okay yea i meant i was just going to keep it like it is now with the 33's just swap in the 8.8......then get the lift, front axle, and 4.88's.....put that on then get the tires....kind of build my way up.

that's the best way to do it . You get to see it come together and you are not out of your rig for to long
