Hi,

I just purchased a 96 B3000. I noticed today when I got it home that there was a small red blinking led near the foot pedals. It stays on and continues to blink even when the car is turned off. I'm sure it's something small, however this is my first vehicle I have bought myself and I am a little hyper aware of everything and just want to know what it is!

Thank you for any information!

The previous owner probably just owed alot of money to the mob. Just pull the blasting caps out of the c4 and you'll be fine.

AFAIK It isn't stock. Can you show a pic?

There are no factory-installed blinking lights of any color near the pedals. Someone must have installed an aftermarket blinking red light.

Sounds like a security system.

I defintely think it is aftermarket. It appears to just be cold fastened through the plastic. If I wiggle the wiring harness it will stop blinking for a second then come back on. It also seems to be making a clicking noise as well.

sure looks like part of an aftermarket security system to me...

I've seen a Venom control module with a light like that. whenever it changed the air/fuel mix, the red LED would flicker at first, then go solid at the top of the power band. ( on a Civic with a JDM integra engine )

Follow the wires....
I finally was able to do this today. Had to pull the dash to replace the worm gear on the odometer. It is just a crappy aftermarket security device...i mean kgb explosive device...

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!

Start removing wires that don't look stock. You will be much better off
