Sludge maintenace

Any one have any ideas about sludge control? I have read many post about using ATF fluid and about RISLONE to clean out a little sludge before oil change, Not wanting a full engine flush. I have read pros and cons on both, need opinions. Thanks 1989 4x4 xlt 2.9 auto

i use ATF or karosene. works very well when i get a vehicle that is having oil feed problems due to neglect.

I bought some engine cleaning stuff for my engine, opened it up and it smelled just like kerosene. I think it will be cheaper to get the kero next time instead of paying $4 for that stuff again. So I guess I'll have to listen to those ol'timers next time about using kerosene. HOWEVER it did work. I did notice that after the oil change the engine revved faster and smoother.

Engine cleaner worked too good

I used that engine cleaner and it worked a bit too good. I think the sludge was holding things together?
