sloppy shifter

well i pulled the motor and tranny out of my wrecked 84 to put in an 87-88 body and the shifter is real sloppy so i was wondering how to fix it before i put it back in? and how hard would it be to just go ahead and rebuild it? its a E47A KB 4 speed

Sloppy as in it gets into gear fine, its just all over when its in there?

I'd think shifter bushings.

sometimes its hard to get in gear but yeah its sloppy even when it is in gear
