SLOPPY shifter on 5 speed?

would you please do that for me that would be greatly appreciated. i took mine apart and it is completly diferent then the mazda... There is a long post with an insert where the shifter goes into but the post should be almost spring loaded to hold it in place but the spring motion is not there... if thaty makes any sence... if not let me know and ill get pics up.. PLEASE ANYTHING WOULD HELP lol
