Slave bolts too long

Bolts bottom out with about 1/8" of air between the heads and slave.

1991-94 Explorer slave, 2004 M5R2 trans... need shorter bolts or shim the slave out or ??

 
I got to thinking, that bearing retainer is out of a '94 truck, they made the bell deeper and changed the input shaft at sometime in the mid 90's too... kinda got worried they made that retainer thicker to make up for it.

Nope, dug around and found the old slave. It is plastic and thicker. :icon_hornsup:

 
I ran into that problem when I switched out my m5r2 gold connection slave, for one that had the black connection. I just grabbed shorter bolts from the local hardware store. Wasn’t an issue after that.
 
Someone actually makes one of those in Metal???
 
i havent had much "luck" with luk clutches. but i am going to order one for my 302 ranger. and give it a thorough test. only because im running a t5 and clutch changes are a 2.5 hour job. not a big deal
