Skyjacker 8" or 6"

ok, i guess i got too hopeful for a bit there about the solid tie rod.

I was just thinking, could a guy use the skyjacker extreme drop pitman arm, and then the superrunner kit to get the steering lined up? I read somewhere though that the superrunner kit needed the superlift pitman arm to work though... just curious cause i'd really prefer to do an 8" lift.

You will need to drop the center link on the superrunner system down to get ideal steering angles.

sweet, i'm just not a big fan of body lifts. but the steering is truly becoming a bit of a headache haha... i guess i'll have to build my bumpers a little differently to cover the gaps the body lifts give

The Superlift kit is designed to use a standard dropped arm (not the extreme arm). You would have to lengthen it's idler arm in order to use it with the extreme drop arm. (it would be better to just modify the centerlink to come down lower, while staying with a standard arm).

If you modify a Superlift kit for more than 2" addl. drop, you'll probably want to widen the distance between the upper bushings on the idler arm to better handle the leverage on it as well. I don't see this being too difficult to do however (you'd just need another (longer) piece of tube, and to modify the frame bracket accordingly).

yeah, the only downside is the superlift kit is its like $400... i actually checked that thread out of the guy who built his custom steering, looked good! I'm figuring i'll check into that more, and when i've got the parts together i'll sit down and figure out exactly what i'm gonna do with the steering. Gotta make sure its legal in WA and ID too. Thats why i'm thinking i'll be sticking with the superlift kit. Ok, so just to make sure i'm understanding ya right... if i got a standard pitman arm, and the superlift kit... i would just have to modify the the centerlink(being the center peice connecting the two steering rods together) dropping it some more to get the steering rods to line up geometrically. Then i'd basically have to build a new idler arm or extend the one that i got in the kit. I'm hoping thats what you said? I just wanna make sure I understand everything you're saying!

I was figuring i'll be doing the radius arms myself, and getting an explorer axle, and put in the back and turning it to match the 8" lift. But for the back end lift, do ya think getting explorer leaf springs, and add-a-leaf for the leaf springs, and shackles... if it needs to go higher i can throw a small like 2" block underneath it... does that sound like a fairly reasonable idea?

I got another question! hahaha... i've been lookin up shocks and i'm really wanting to do a set of dual shocks up front(maybe the back too) but i found some edelbrock reservior shocks. I was just wondering if a guy can even use reservior shocks on an 8" lift? So far the only "official" guarantee i've got is from skyjacker(crazy i know haha) but they are A LOT cheaper than the reservior shocks i wanna do.

If you modify the centerlink itself (by spacing the tierod mounting block down), you will not need to lengthen the idler arm. But I strongly suggest modifying the width of it's upper bushings by going to a longer piece of tube (orig. is 2.5" long, I'd go with at least 3.5", maybe 4"), then modify the frame bracket accordingly to fit it.

There's another currently active thread pretty similar to yours here. Not sure if you seen it. Might be of some help.

oh, i gotcha now! Thanks that makes sense. I actually hadn't seen that thread but i did check it out... i had checked out the one where the guy had built a resembled superlift kit, but more cross-over steering. It looks like it would work pretty well.
