Side mirrors

Great shots, even with the cobwebs. LOL

Thank you 85_Ranger4x4

You can find those mirrors new on eBay. They're aftermarket and made in china of course, though.

So which would be better for the mirrors?

jack nuts with a plate or 12g sheet View attachment 56138

or rivet nuts in a brace/bracket about 1/8" x 1" x 6-8"

I suppose I would know better once I find a set of mirrors though.

I would use rivet nuts installed with RTV around the outside to prevent any water intrusion. Ford Ranger doors rust enough from the inside out as it is. The rivet nuts will be stronger.

Ditto on the rivet nuts
Those mirrors use bracket from the inside of the door a nut comes up from the bottom and a screw threw the sheet metal . The brace has treaded nuts on ready to accept the bolts. LMC truck has the mirrors for rangers and f 150s

Ok, so is there an interior door brace/bracket for the lower or upper arm on the mirror for support?
There is definitely reinforcement inside the door for that type of mirror.

The brace reinforces the upper and lower mounts of the mirror

I'm not so sure riv-nuts fit the bill here. If you do use them they need to be the flush ones. Any stand off in the nut face will push the mirror plate off the door.

I think I was going to use them when I did mine... but went with a plate in the door and tacked nuts to the plate. They actually were solid and didn't move much at all.

The plates have a plastic shim/gasket between them and the door panel that would compensate for the height of the crush nuts but I 'd still want a reinforcement inside the door.

As long as the gasket covers the distance... perfect.

Just something to take into consideration I suppose...

Anybody bought any new head for that style lately and can speak to the quality? All the reviews I've seen say the new ones are floppy from the factory.
