Show off your RC!

Splurged and snagged a 1:10 SCX-10 III Base Camp for my 6yo. He is nerding out over all the little detail things; snorkel, bumpers, bed rack and traction boards etc which is funny.

The little guys are fun around the house but it isn't much fun to hike at 3/4 speed and getting hung up on leaves etc. We are going camping next weekend and I thought it would be fun to play with them.

So we went out and played a bit yesterday.

It was a hoot. Then we got to playing around climbing up on the concrete well cover... and I stripped out the stock plastic steering pitman arm on my Ranger. :black_eye:

Bigger heavier wheels/tires with spacers... I had it coming. I got a new one coming for the weekend... hopefully it fits.

It is amazing how nice the III's handle compared to my II though, driveline is a lot quieter than mine and everything from the suspension to tire squish is very realistic compared to a 1:1. Factory metal suspension/steering links are a good idea I can get behind as well. I am thinking I need to upgrade shocks on the Ranger now...

Changing the oil weight made a huge difference for me on my basher. I imagine you'd have similar results!

His has oil filled shocks... mine are just the original friction shocks.

For crawling mine were fine, but now that I have his to look at I see there is room for improvement.

I apparently haven't posted in this post, probably because I don't take many pictures but I think I have an excuse now... this is officially a teaser... For about 10 years I've had an old electric Traxxas Rustler that I literally found at goodwill... no motor or speed control and missing some random stuff but for $30 good bones... ran brushed for a bit with stuff I had on hand but now it's brushless with RPM A arms and other random parts and is a rocket... on sand with the suspension set soft and low it will do rolling backflips with paddles which is honestly kinda annoying... the thing is a blast but too light for some things... about 2 years ago I talked myself into a Traxxas TRX4M ford body in blue... it's pretty stock other than steering upgrade and lead shot in the tires...

Today I picked up a Arrma Mojave from my boss's cousin for a reasonable price, 1/7 scale on 6 cell, it's a beast... I ran it around tonight for about 20 minutes and it can take grass better, should be fun this summer...

That Rustler is known for flipping. My BIL has one. There are two main things you can do: add a wheelie bar to the back, and weigh the front end down. Metal control arms will do that, but you introduce impacts to the chassis that it can't always handle. The best way is simply a piece of metal as far forward as possible, like adding a bumper.

That Arrma sounds like a beast! I'd love to see pics.

I bought a couple RC's to entertain my grandson last summer. I had lots of fun running them around the back yard while he chased them. That didn't last long... now he wants the controller... and grandpa is the chaser. Dang kid only know one speed... WFO. He's still a bit young for these... but he gets major joy out of running me around the yard.... and tormenting Goober.

I use ours to lead my daughter around the house. Mom wants her to come to her, just drive the truck over to mom...

That doesn't work so well here...

Goober considers the RC's the smaller... more evil relatives of the vacuum. And he REALLY hates the vacuum.

You need a beagle.... correction... Male beagle with original bits. That's just what you need... a little more "spice" in the old farm house.
