should i joining the marines

Why pay to learn diesel mechanics? The military is a GREAT way to learn that trade.

Remember there are 2 times you will raise your hand;
enlist into DEP
then enlist into Active Duty

remember REMEMBER you can back out on the second swearing in and walk away with a free Physical. :thefinger:

Also remember no one has been recalled back up from Ready Reserve, it is easier to not let anyone get discharged to the civilian world.

EAT THE APPLE Fark THE CORE

you parents *may* have to sign your paperwork

oh ya "live out of your laundry bag" :icon_idea:

I was in the army if you are going to join, the Delayed Entry Program is a good thing. No matter what branch it helps if you decide to get out, the time you spend on DEP counts towards your 8 years of contract. So if you decide to get out after 4 years and you spent a year on DEP you would only have 3 years in Inactive Ready Reserve to have a chance of getting called back.

diesel mech

one thought is that your local reserve/guard(state) unit must have Diesels, if not dIESEL Generators.

Stay local, go to diesel mech school in Georgia or somewhere down south, come back and get a local job. :icon_welder:

well i talked to some people and i am considering goin to wyotech for diesel and automotive techs i think i will be better there since im love workin on my truck why not do it for a living

I did 10 years Air Force.

Wasnt always fun but I grew up it made a man out of me. It helps me now I have no doubt college wouldnt have been a success for me at 18.

Good Luck with your decision best one I ever made. Im disabled now still learned so much though

well thanks to everyone but i dont think i want to join anymore. i thought it would be great but it not what i thought so im goin to have to start saving for wyotech

Good for you. Have you put any thought into studying diesel technology at a junior college or state college? There's a lot of public colleges that have very good diesel programs and it will cost a fraction of what Wyotech or UTI wants. That's my plan for when I get out of the service.

i was gonna do the same thing my dad was marine recon he wouldnt let me sign up. He always said go into the airforce its better for a carreer. He served 2 tours in vietnam he was 1 out of 12 ppl who made it out of his platoon your expected to live for 2 seconds thats not my cup of tea oh and he still doesnt sleep to this day and is paranoid he has nightmares everynight to this day. If our country was in trouble of being invaded i would sign up for the marines but its not so go air force
