Should i go for it?

That truck is worth about $1500 to $2000. High mileage will decrease the value. The ranger trucks were OBDII compliant in 1995. While the CEL does NOT come on for "no reason", it can be a minor problem. Usually, a sensor not reading or sending correctly or if a sensor is "out of range" it will set the CEL. If there is no rust, it would be a good purchase. The listing is in Detroit, though. Lots of rust in that area.

Just because its capable of using OBD II connections, does not mean its OBD II. Its still OBD I. I have had the CEL come on in my Ranger 2 times for things that my truck didn't even have.

Honestly, a truck that looks that clean in the rust belt for 2200, I would buy it. My grandpa's got a 2 wheel drive, 4.0 with a 5 speed. Its fun compared to my 4x4 with 4.0 and 31's. Let me tell you they sure do scoot. I would test drive it and take it somewhere and have it tested. If its really only something minor you will know it and can go ahead and buy it. If its something major then you only lost, maybe $70. A lot better than 2200 with a truck you will have a hard tome getting rid of.

If it test out good, offer him 2000 for cost of getting it tested and a new windsheild installed is $130. Otherwise its a good buy.

people use the internets to lie out their ass

it aint worth nothin unless you see it in person

:)

well judging by your guys response i think im going to go test drive it. i just need this car for work at getting back and forth from school (2 miles). I just dont want the truck to die out on me, im not made of money.

but thanks guys, your great help :)

Take it to Autozone and have them pull codes. They do it for free.

My uncle had an F150 that the CEL came on shortly after he bought it new. After several trips to the dealer with no success, he just let it glow. As he told me, "The only way to make it go out is with a hammer." Ten years and well over 100,000 miles later, he traded it in...the CEL was still on.

That said, I'd still want to know before making it mine.
