Hi, my baby (87 bronco ll) has developed too much freeplay in shifter linkage. I found a great article on this site regarding replacing them. My question is what are the coresponding part numbers for the bushings for my transmission, its code "D" a mitsubishi FM145 5 speed, and where might I find new ones. I assume the bushings are not the same for all bronco ll configurations? Thanks for help. This is the only problem beside a hairline crack in distributor cap and the common water leak on passenger side I've had with her. With 227,00 miles on her( 176,000 are mine) we're just getting each other broke in.

The FM145 doesn't have "bushings" per se. It had a teflon ball at the end of the shift lever and those had a tendency to break.

Pull your shifter out and inspect the ball. I'm not sure that they are available new, but I have a lightly used one around here somewhere that I'd hook you up with. That trans shifted fine, shifter was nice and tight. The trans bearings were shot.

Thanks, I'll pull it this week and get back to you. Great site.
