I have noticed that thw clearance after the swap is no where near close to what I used to be, to the point where my 5th gear actually makes contact with the plastic on the dash. Is there any efective way to bent the arm backwards I tried using heat and a vice but cant get it to budge much. Or better yet is there any shift rod from any other vehicle that would give me a better angle?

So shifter with the 5.0 swap is too close to the dash? I thought the problem was usually too far back? What transmission did you use?

If it's an M5OD, the base of the shifter lever is not hard to remove from the current lever. I used a spare one and bent a piece of conduit (don't remember if EMT or rigid) to replace the middle section.

Yeah, be nice to have a little more information. A lot of shifters on Fords were a rubber-filled two piece deal, so you have to heat and bend above or below that and you have to get the steel to cherry red or above color to get it to bend

The shift rod it too close to the dash so when I shift into the top gears it hits, ive tryws shaving some material away but it's still not enough. I have also tried to bend the rod but because it is is cast iron it doesn't like to bend much. It is an m5od

that is why the jelly bean trucks are the preferred transmission donors.

the cab forward hide the engine under the dashboard horseshit got us a decent transmission at least...

all of the OBS truck transmissions are a pia with the shifter. they are much shorter than the aods and especially the E4od

Noted for next time but doesn't help the situation now.

cut and weld

it looks like you have the early closest to the dash position.

if it is the early farthest forward
you can swap the whole top from a mid mount....that will give a bit more room

the late late a style is all the way back and perfect for the ranger but wears a bit quicker
