I just put a one-piece driveshaft in yesterday and the truck drives great. There used to be a ton of vibration on take off, even after i replaced the carrier bearing. But it looks like it is too long. I think the telescoping part is totally compressed. Is this something i should be concerned about? Will this restrict upward movement of the axle or possibly damage the t-case? Maybe this is normal but it was a heck of a lot harder to get in place than the stock one. The shaft is out of 01 5spd ranger. The guy at the junk yard said the auto and 5spd are the same length. Has anybody else had this problem?

your auto mite be longer than the 5 speed that the drive line came off of. does it have any forword movement at all? nice seeing you on here man what the hell you been up to?

The m5od and the a4ld both measure the same length. Have you take the boot off of the slip to see if it is actually bottomed?

Agreed, I would check and make sure the slip boot isn't just giving it resistance. ALL transmissions in RBVs are the same lengths since 1988 forward.

its not siezed is it? i have a messed up shaft from a bronco the po some how locked the splined section up

It's a bad pic but i just got home from school and it is dark outside. I haven't taken the boot off but you can see it is totally squished. It is not much bigger than the weld. My truck is far from stock height, shouldn't the driveshaft be stretched out instead of squished?

Is the rear axle moved forward at all somehow?
