I have a 94 3.0 that has some type of problem with the cooling system. The engine never gets real hot or overheats. The most its ever done is get up to the L on normal. But the coolent is boiling out of the resivoir. And there is so much pressure its pushing out from the radiator cap. It looked like a head gasket leak. And it was, I had the motor torn down and the head, intake, timing cover, and valve cover gaskets replaced and a new thermostat put in. Now the truck runs great but it is still doing it! It just boils off all the coolent when you turn the motor off. I has great heat so the heater core isnt clogged. THere are no leaks. The water pump seems to be working, but we are going to replace it today anyway. THe only other thing I can see is the fan is cracked pretty bad so Im gunna pull one off my other ranger and try that.

Check the timing to see if it is too far advanced. Spark knock, even when unheard, will create extreme temperatures in the cylinders and often times lead to the symptoms the you describe.

Check the water pump for rotted impeller.
Did you have the heads magnafluxed? They are sometimes prone to cracking.
