I know that this should probably go in the 3.0 forum but this gets more traffic and I'm lookin for a fast answer.

I just bought a screamin demon coil pack from underdog-performance for my 1996 3.0 ranger. I installed it and the motor will not fire. it just cranks over and once in a while give a god awful bang like its firing the wrong cylinder at the wrong time. there is no markings for cylinder # and the paper that came with it says to replace the plug wires in the same relative location on the new coil.

that being said, am i doing something wrong, or did i get a bad coil?

put your old one back on , see if it will run !

It's probably a wrong firing order, but even if you get it to work, it isn't going to improve anything at all over funcitoning OEM. You already had HEI.

Im not sure about your coil problem, but may I ask why your buying an aftermarket coil? there is no need to modify the spark, in stock form it is more than adequate. Unless you have other SERIOUS modifacations, there is no need for an aftermarket coil pack.

The addition of this coil allows the plug gap to be opened up to .065". with superior plug wires and when combined with the x-calibrator's 93 octane performance tune, i figured it couldn't hurt.

So if it is the wrong firing order, how do i figure out the correct order for the new coil? there are no numbers or anything on the pack itself.

Does it sound like its the wrong firing order? or could it be a bad coil? i put the old one back in and it started and ran normal.

this is pissing me off.... been a real bad week...
