Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and want to put a chev 350 in a ranger. I'm looking at a 1988 ranger right now with a blown motor that i'm thinking will make a great canidate, the only down side is that is a long bed and i want a short bed. I have been reading threads about doing the swap and it sounds fun. Any input on this would be great. I will keep everybody posted with my progress

check out my thread a couple down from this and it will show some pics of what it will entail. also check out my cardomain in my signature below. my thread is "just plan stupied, doing a sbc swap w/blackwidow

stroker. do it.

i don't care that its a sbc, but rather the most commonly swapped engine known to man.

add something at least a lil different to the engine like a few extra ci's or some forced induction.

plain ol 350's are boring. (no offense blackwiddow)

it should be a fun swap nonetheless :icon_thumby:

If blackwidow67 see what you are doing he is going to excited...hes doing the same thing. You should check out his thread.

i already posted guys. i was the first.

and chance, its not a normal 350, im doing a comp cams thumpr cam, intake, carb, electronic disty, headers, head porting, double roller timing chain, and a few things i wont tell. should have it at around 300-320 at the crank.
'
now call that a plain ole boring 350. hehehe

hey at least yours has some work done to it. not just a stocker tossed haphazardly into a truck like the swaps i've done :icon_rofl:

nah, i wouldnt do the swap unless i could do mods to it.

as of right now, i have a pending 2500 yes 2500 dollar order to www.jegs.com (by pending meaning im waiting to get the money and its all sitting in my shopping cart)

im making mine a daily street driver, show truck. once the engine is all mocked up and mounted. im blowing it all apart to paint the bay again, grind and sand the piss outta the block, and paint every thing to match the colors im doing my truck.

a stock 350 will move this truck just fine, but i don't even have a stock lawn mower so i know for a fact this thing will have a few mods done to it. Blackwidow, is your truck a long or short bed? I read that whole just plain stupid thread, and thought it was pretty good, definately not putting a 302 in mine after reading that:icon_thumby:

mines a long bed. i like the long bed better.

i liked the short bed look, but the long bed is growing on me. i'm sure i'm going to have lots of questions for you as the swap goes along

When I first visited it it said nobody else had posted so thats why I said something but as soon as I told it to post two others showed up in front of it.

ask away my friend. im still learning so if ya get ahead of me, please post pics.

btw, the motor mounts that i found to work best are from a 1962 chevy impala with the 5.3, the engine and frame mounts work great in my truck.

what did the store owner say when the customer said "ill take a set of wiper blades for my chevy"? : sounds like a fair trade.

how do u make a chev go from 0-60 in less than 10 seconds? push it off a cliff.

how do you double the value of a chevy? fill up the gas tank

hehe, sorry im done
