At the speed she was going in that curve, even if she had caught traction on the asphalt she would have just left the road sideways instead of head on. She already had too much inertia against her.

I called the Sheriff's dept after I got home because I realized that in my state of confusion I had left a wrong cell number for my witness information.

They did confirm that she was the only occupant.

My fear was that a child had been in the front passenger seat. The front passenger seat no longer existed.

I got home and hugged my wife and kids a long time. There but for the Grace of God go I.

Thanks guys. It does help to unload some of this emotion. I doubt I'll sleep tonight.

sucks that you had to be there and see it but if somebody takes themself out of the living population all by themselves then that is natural selection at its best.

i had an accident that was a close call, i was going down this really curvey back road at about 15mph cause that was all the faster you could go on that road and i was in a little 06 KIA Spectra and this dumb butt kid driving a mitsu 3000gt came around the corner going well over the posted speedlimit of 25 and he lost traction and head on'd me and there was a little cliff on that turn that my right tire was inches from going off, but the whole front of that pos practically broke off and a sharp peice of metal was inches from my leg, i thank God every time i think of that for keeping me alive

That was a very unfortunate accident, and indeed a horrible thing to have to witness. I hope that the shock of it fades quickly, and thanks for reminding us all to be more careful. The unexpected can certainly happen in the blink of an eye, and being more focused when driving can make a difference.
