The XP6 was a mistake....Steve Ordered only V8's. Some were 2WD but most were AWD. But they were shipped a few 4.0L SOHC V6's..So instead of shipping them back, Steve decided to keep them, and build them as is. And called them XP6's. While the V8 versions were called XP8's.
The first XP8 Prototype was actually based on a 1997 Explorer, although it is titled as a 1998. It is very obvious that it isn't a 1998 though. The rear hatch is totally different. So it is slightly different than the production 1998+ models that followed.
And the ONLY 2001 Saleen that was made (even though it is #13) was made as a special favor to a family friend of Steve Saleen. It is also the only Saleen that is based on an Eddie Bauer Edition.

As for colors, White is the most popular color. But I have also seen them in Black, Blue and Red.
