S10?

I look at this from experience with 500-1000 dollar cars.... Pass it up and save... What good is blowing your savings a on car that when it breaks down, is stuck in the drive way with no funds to fix it?? Find a job first, save more money, then buy something better than a 900 dollar diesel, or 600 dollar, hard starting pick up.

My dads a mechanic and he's got a 04 Dodge ram 2500 with a cummins in it so we know about the maintenance. he'd rather see me in that then the S10 So i figure, why the hell not. And oil changes every 2.5k? my dads is like every 7k if not more...

Well, if you can find an '04 Cummins Ram for $950, you should go for it. An idi diesel, however, kicks oils ass more due to soot.

Though the OP's point is moot - here's my 2 cents.
A guy at work has an S-10 with the 2.8 and close to the same vintage as my ranger. He bought it new and has lived within 10 miles of where my Ranger has lived. All of his paint wore off and had to re-paint it. My Ranger still has its original paint. At ~150k he started busting valve springs and ended up replacing them all. My motor's never been apart. His leaks oil and smokes. My Ranger does neither.

sounds like they're either bad or good, and my vehicle is getting less reliable every day so i'd rather not dump money into something that isn't mine. plus it's a 4 cly and it's a car. never getting a car again.

Diesel is actually worth it. just needs a fuel pump , tires, and a front end alignment. at least my dad likes this one way better then anything else i've showed him. and diesels rock!

Been there done that, but waiting for dad is what got me my ranger instead of a rusted out pos silverado.

Also i see you're from belleville, i livedin monroe for 3 years and taylor for a year.
I Go to airport high school in carleton so i'm close to monroe every day, and i used to head out to wayne country community college in taylor for my vocational class.

/E: Found a 1998 Ranger with a 3.0, Auto ( want a manual..but i can always switch it over), and a good for 600 but needs the engine finished rebuilding and needs heads. downturn is it's 212 miles away..You guys were right!( even thought i wouldn't have gotten the s10 till tomorrow so i probably would have found this before hand)
