I have a few Youtube channels I'm subscribed to that I check once in a while. Today I saw one I think appropriate for everyone that owns a vehicle. I would probably use Fluid Film rather than engine oil, but anything is better than nothing.

Everything I wash my truck in the winter it gets a quick spray with an ATF wd40 mix

Neutralize rust (plenty of it on the frame!) with phosphoric acid (hardware store).
Bar chain oil (contains an adhesive) cut with paint thinner and sprayed on.
