i've got a black decal on the bottom line of my body, and it's starting to rust underneath, popping up.

not sure how deep it is, but i don't think it's all the way through.

anyway, i was thinking of just cutting off the entire bottom of the body (from the start of the decal down) and just welding on new steel. and then either painting it, or coating it in truck bed liner.

has anybody done this/have any tips?
this won't be done like tomorrow, or even this month probably, but it should probably be done, i don't want the rust to spread.

also, what can i do about two about dime to quarter sized rust spots on my hood from a bug guard?

rust converter for quarter sized stuff is what I would use. I don't know if that is the best way to go.

sounds like a good plan but if its just surface rust on your hood you can sand it down and prime and paint it also another route instead of cutting all of the lower cab off is fiberglassing the holes because fiberglass is waterproof but you got the right idea
