running with no power steering

Are there no differences in pulleys and brackets between the ac/ps and non-ac/ps 2.3's? The only reason I ask is because I had to locate a super-rare non-ac alt bracket when I ditched the AC on an /82 diesel vw rabbit.

On the ranger (mines an '87) it looks like you can adjust the alt way down on the slotted bracket to avoid running the belt into itself (if you have a first-gen four banger w/ ac/ps go look at your pulleys and serp. belt and you'll see what I mean).

My ps pump is about to take a crap on me and I would seriously prefer switching to manual steering rack/box but don't quite have the resources at the moment. Assuming I can get the pulleys/serp belt to work I should be able to loop the PS lines together on the rack and pull everything else, right? I'm putting the truck on a serious diet (ac is already gone w/ the exception of the ac heater core, which will be getting bypassed in the near future) and the more stuff I can get rid of, the better. It is also a street truck (205/70r14 tires) that will be getting lowered and carbed in the near future (knock on wood).

Update, went to part store with string an zip ties holding it firmly at the length needed, had a belt sized out with 6 ribs, then the guy asked if it had ac. I replied no. He said hold on a sec, looked in his computer, said shows one is made for that setup. I assumed it was slightly diff tho, so he went n pulled it from the shelf. Sure shit! exactly the size needed! pulled out $10 and some change and rode off into the sunset on my chattering chain n sprockets having CBR to get the Ford back up. Thanks all for help. ALL replies are greatly appreciated! -Joseph
