Will a "running board" from a 2001 extended cab fit on a 1998 extended cab?

The side body lines from 1998 to 2011 didn't change. So, they will fit.

Thanks!

I have heard that Extended Cab boards might not fit boards for 4 Door models?

Fortunately, we both got Extended Cab trucks.

Thanks!

I can't see why that would be true. Though, any Supercabs that I've been around without the rear opening doors, I wasn't looking underneath them. As far as I can tell, the floor profile is the same between the two.

Youre more than likely ortect.
Saw that on 3rd Gen Ford Owners/Facebook tho guy was not sure.
On a mass production line I can't see Ford changing design parameters between body styles.
Seller said he'd show me where theyll fit on my truck.
Thanks again!

Even if the floors were different between 2 door extended cabs and 4 door extended cabs, that portion of the frame and the bottom edge of the body were the same. Most of the Ranger running boards I've seen mount to the frame and sit below the cab.

I could see the rear doors (or lack there of) potentially being an issue if the running boards you are looking at actually mount to the cab itself. Most later model (98+) running boards I've seen are of the nerf bar variety, AKA a tubular bar with step pads, and mount to the frame. I'm not sure that I've ever seen any of those models with a more molded running board that conforms to and attaches to the cab itself.

Thanks...I'll find out and report back. Seller will show me mounting points.

This is what he's selling...came with/off his 2001 Extended Cab.

Learn something new all the time. Those do appear to bolt to the floor pan in the cab. Maybe all of the ones I've been around were aftermarket, can't say I looked close enough to tell or would remember at this point.

In that case I think the guys above would be on point. They wouldn't interfere with rear door function either way.

This one is a Ford marked board that came with the truck when bought new.
I kinda remember some YT vid where board mounted to cab.
I'll get it in next couple days and report back.
