Hey, names greg hopeing someone can help me....for the past month my 3.0 5spd ranger didnt like to idle right and would sometimes stall out. once i let it warm up, the prblm quits. I eventually got tired of holding it at 3k rpms for 5min everytime i started it up, so yesturday i went and baught a brand new IAC valve. thinking it would fix the rough/no idle. as it did fix the prblm with my old 2.3l. Well got back from advance with the part, put it on and the first start with a slightly warm engine showed the idle prblm was fixed. i shut the truck off and later started the truck up....no idle prblm. i pulled out of my driveway and right away i knew there was a prblm. i normaly shift at 3 to 4k wen i hit 3k i pushed the clutch to go from first to 2nd and the truck held at 3k rpms with the clutch in...but would slowly fall if i held the clutch in...it did this in everygear. i would have to hold the clutch in for about 10seconds for the rpms to go back to idle to avoid rideing the clutch. its almost like the truck is giveing itself gas. This new prblm showed up with the new IAC...bad part? something else i need to change? HELP ME GUYS!:icon_confused:

it could be a faulty part still try to clean it with carb cleaner then put it on again or get somebody to start your truck with the unit off and pugged in with the two wholes in the throttle body taped with duct tape and watch the plunger move and see if its getting caught on something.

I would try seafoam thru it(Advanced Auto)if problem clears then check to make sure you egr valve is not sticking.
