Hey guys got a 85 ranger 2.8 4wd and was wanting to see if anyone out there is running royal purple gear oil in the trannys and tcases or differentials? My buddy runs it in his yota in his front and rear diff but im thinking bout running it all around in everything. Any imput

Oil is oil. As long as it's API GL-5, it will do just fine in a differential. GL-4 (manual) or Mercon ATF (auto) for your year transmissions, Mercon ATF in the transfer case, and API SL for the crankcase.

ANY oil that meets those specs will be adequate for your application.

And none of them will take kindly to unrepaired leaks, water contamination, and so on.

Note that some racing oils do NOT meet the spec (though Royal Purple does).

Yea I know about the gl-5 spec i work at a local part store and was just wanting to know who all in this forum uses this gear oil. its the same with motor oil. All oil is the same except for synthetic and deisel.
