rough country 4in lift

goodluck flexing Skyjacker springs on the TTB...Jeep coils is the way to go if you want flex.

I have a rough country 4" and thought it was my stock radius arms that wre holding back the flex so I got the skyjacker ones and still dosen't allow any flex cause the coils are so stiff, even with the sway bar removed. Definetly go with a skyjacker. Like 88 mudder said though and from what I have seen in the suspension forums the skyjackers are ok but if you really want to flex get a set of skyjacker coils for an XJ i am looking at the 6" set cause they are soft enough an will settle to around 5" and should still be able to align it with the 4" brackets. Thats my 2 cents

Arent the xj springs a lot softer tho? How soft is to soft here? Also my trucks a daily driver so I still wanna maintane the asphalt driving factor to. Wouldnt the xj's be to soft for that without running a sway bar? Im not gonna be doing any hardcore rock crawling or anything but I still wanna have some decent flex for when im on the trails. Il have my softride 6" coils tomorrow for my ranger tomorrow so il see how those are. Im just looking for a combo that will do good in both worlds. I plan on going out probly every other weekend this summer.

so from what i have read about lately... the 4in RC coils are like bricks. and the softrides allow flex but would still work pretty well for a DD. and if ya wanna climb trees with your ranger/b2, than get the xj springs...

i'm going with the RC 4in lift. and upgrading to the skyjacker coils and the softrides in the back... i run swaybarless. so it should be ok... but i might work on some limiting straps.

i dont know what people are talkin about, ive had my 4" rough country on my explorer for 3 years now, it doesnt ride that bad at all, it flexes decent, and im yet to break it. You cant beat it for the cost

whats the spring rates between the 2 coils?

Skyjacker 6" RBV coils are around 410PPI, with a free length of 19"
Skyjacker 6" XJ coils are 237PPI with a free length of 22"

The 237PPI coils should work decent on anything except a Supercab truck, V6 Longbed truck, or 4-door Explorer (for those you'll want something closer to 300PPI). However your steering geometry will have a greater impact on onroad handling more than the softness of the coils will.

I already got a extreme arm on my bench right now to correct the steering. Im just trying to find something that will give me good flex offroad and still keep the daily driver ability. I will have 6" SJ coils tomorrow to replace my rough country 4" coils. I guess I will install those and see how it goes.

ya same here... but im not looking very hard. one thing at a time.
