Truck is an 87 ranger 2.9l 4x4. Currently building a short block. While its apart I am going to swap out the worn out steering box with a rebuilt one but I need to move the truck around the shop, so steering needs to work. This is my first project with power steering. Will I cause any damage to the new box if I am steering it without any fluid? If so I will swap out the box right before I install the engine. If not I'll knock it out and get it done durring the process.
