roll on paint

i want to paint my 83 ranger army green. i was recently searching budget paint jobs cauuse i dont want to spend alot of money painting a wheeler when i came across roll on paint. my friend painted his boat with a self leveling roll on paint and it turned out pretty good. i was just wondering if anybody out there has any tips or pointers on how to perform this painting process.

I have seen roll on on trucks..... the last one was my dad's highschool truck that he sold when my parents got married.

He pointed out the custom moon-window rear glass out of a van he'd put in, then he saw the paint and started to cry.

I can't say that roll on is ever the way to go.

i found some roll on self leveling paint at walmart. its right around thirteen dollars a quart. so i think im gonna try it out and i will post some pics when i finish it. thanks guys

If the roll on paint doesn't work, try some camo spray paint from your same W**-M**t.

lol, people can get pretty inventive when you leave a pc for them to mess with, your lucky that's all they did!

krylon camouflage is a favourite for spray painting stuff. Guns, stocks, trucks, ect.

I just finished the roll on paint job about a week ago on my 87. I didn't do much wet sanding and it turned out ok. My body work skills need some help but the paint went on pretty well.
Things I learned from actually painting it. Keep rolling until you see no runs or excessive amounts of paint. The first couple of coats will look bad. Don't worry, It will look fine when you get more coats on it. (I used only 6 coats and it covers fine) Thin the paint to get it to look about like milk. I also used a couple rattle cans to paint the door jambs and a few of the spots that are hard to get to with the roller. Just take your time and it will work out for you.
By the way, I used less than a half gallon on an extended cab. I also painted all the trim and bumpers black while I was at it. I try to get pics up in the next couple of days.
