I now have two messed up orders in a row and no solution in sight. The returns and help through the website have proven useless and now there is nobody to call to get things resolved. Buyer beware.

The first order included a fuel pump. The problem was, what I got was not what was described on the site. No joy on a return, refund, or what I needed to make it work. Cost me an extra day, a special order part from a local parts store, lost wages, and a lot of screwing around to make it work. Now I’m pretty sure the “new” pump is failing.

Second order, they ship the wrong tie rod end. It’s on the paperwork correctly, but they shipped the wrong number. Tried using the site again only to be told that it can be refunded but not replaced with the correct part THAT THEY STOCK! And now there is no number to call to resolve a problem.

****update****
After my loud complaint, I got an email from RA saying that they fixed the problem and as soon as they got confirmation that the wrong parts were on their way back, they would ship the right ones, which they did. I’m still a little unhappy that it had to come to this sort of public complaint to get things fixed, but without someone to contact to fix the problem, I didn’t see much other choice.

That gets you a receptionist at the corporate office who tells you that they don’t have a customer service department anymore and hangs up on you.

Well here is hoping the rest of my recent order comes in correctly. I had to redo head gaskets and valve seals and such on my mom's Mustang. Ordered up the whole set from Rock. The exhaust valve seals got here Saturday, and they were correct. The gaskets and bolts were coming from farther away and aren't here yet.

I've always had good luck with RockAuto. :dunno:

I always had good luck and service until these last two orders

That is too bad, they have had good service for me before.

Well, after all my complaining, I got a message that they are sending the correct parts, so we shall see how it goes. I shouldn’t have to pitch a public fit to get things resolved though when there’s a problem.

I ordered a "rebuilt" saginaw box for my GMC from them, and it had more play in it than my old one. Of course by the time I realized it, it was already installed. After looking into shipping this thing back and the mess and that I had already spent so much time working on it I ended up doing some backlash adjustments on it myself and got it better, about as good as my old one was, but at least it didn't leak like the old one. Granted, I did order the cheapest option, but it said it was all disassembled and rebuilt with new components and properly adjusted in the description.

Had I ordered from a local chain store it would have been much easier to to bring it back in and get a proper replacement. Truthfully, I haven't bothered ordering from them since for that very reason.

Some things I just won't buy online unless I can do pickup at a brick and mortar store, and that there is the very reason. If it isn't right I don't want to have to fuss with trying to ship it back.

well, if you have had 20 transactions.....thats better then some of the commercial parts i get in store:D

though patience is needed beyond what i want to have.

i hate having to mail stuff. i have shit luck, horrible shitluck. i do when i have to but its usually frustration.

like right now i can not get any correct stuff mailed to where i am at, for the rig i am working on in pa....one time it went to the wrong address...sent back....sent back to the hotel i was staying at somehow...which sent it back, but they left a note at the house i am renting that i needed to pick it up...:annoyed:

:dunno:

you have to work hard to make it right...but at least they will learn from it with any luck.

and none of us have the time to put into this crap...and they i fear....count on it.

I feel the same way. I ordered some tapered blocks from them several years ago, and it took a few weeks to arrive. I wasn't impressed with the shipping, and the cost wasn't particularly spectacular either.

O'Reilly's, eBay, or the junkyards for me, too.

My very first order with Rockauto got me the wrong part. I ordered the right thing, but received the wrong one.

They replaced it and paid to return the wrong part with no hassle. That was the only problem I had with them. I ordered about a dozen times (judging from the magnets on my toolbox) from them since and everything's been fine so far.
