Roadtrip 2010

You guys are getting me wanting to travel...

I've always thought a slow road trip down rt66 would make a cool honeymoon if I could find a woman that enjoys the same things I do. Even if I can't find one, a trip down rt66 would be cool as hell.

The missus and I like to take trips to far-away shopping malls. It works out for both of us, I get to drive my truck for a couple hours and she gets to drag me a shopping mall. It's even better if they have a sears for me to drag her into. Never taken it anywhere further than about 120 miles away, but I wouldn't think twice about taking her cross country.

I've always wanted to the same thing, but with the Pacific Coast Highway, starting in San Deigo & ending in Seattle.

We are blessed to live in countries (Out of respect, I'm including the Canadians here too.) where we have both the beautiful countryside & freedoms to travel it.

Anyone ever do any long roadtrips in a high mileage Ranger?

High mileage ranger, no. but sunfire gt (with the 2.4L), yes. horrible experience. first time the fuel pump died, second time the head gasket blew...then the head cracked!

Sold it and now I do road trips in low mileage b-series, less worries.

I took off last summer, graduation road trip you could say, with a couple of buddy's of mine. Loaded my truck up with camping stuff, and took off. We wound up over in Boise Idaho, visited my uncle for a night, headed on up to Montana, went to Great Falls, then came back west. We went up to Mt. Baker in Washington, and on our way back down to Oregon, we figured we'd visit Toledo Washington.

Anyways, we just camped along the way, and had a great time, and this was in a Ranger with roughly 230,000 miles on an all original engine, and didn't have a single problem. I knew my truck burned a little oil, so every time I filled up, I'd make sure to check my fluids.:icon_thumby:

i like taking long roadtrips , the furthest i have taken a ranger so far is down to florida and back , been all over the Northeast in 2 different rangers , my dream is to drive from coast to coast on US20 which runs through my county about 20 miles from my house
haha, I live on US20

I am all about road trips and keeping the plan fluid. I think it goes without saying that you and Vanessa are on the same page. You two should save up for the big one and come visit us in Alaska! I am sure the folks in every club would be offering complimentary fishing trips, airplane flightsees, hikes, rafting and all the other great stuff we and Alaska can give. Just be prepared to see some of the finest working rigs on the planet and jaw dropping scenery. We do tread lightly as Alaska is our sexy mistress. Cheers Jim

I'd be up for a road trip to Alaska. Never had the pleasure of visiting. Hope to some day. I've heard the misquitos need FAA clearnace!

the best part about doing road trips in RBV's is that u can find parts ANYWHERE

Very true. One of the better things FoMoCo did was make so many P/N's common to multiple generations of vehicles. Chances are that if it can't be found in the local parts store, there's a junkyard that does have it.

I am heading to Nova Scotia this Easter to help my mother with her pile of crap of a house she just bought.

In Joggins of all places. It may be right up beside the bay of Fundy but man its got no trees! And the east coast ALWAYS gets it in the winter.

Bay of Fundy is totally worth it!! The weather can get nuts but who cares (I'm getting married outside of Digby @ our cottage on the water this May, hoping for good weather lol)

Also, as a NH resident living on Route 1A, it's a short but very nice drive - I do it every day!

I wanna do the Route 66 trip too. But it would have to be in a convertible. ( or a choptop)

Whatever happened to someone puttin together a members list for occasions like this? It was inspired by the goldwing riders member book.

Honestly I'd rather do it on a motorcycle more than anything, but I doubt I'll have the funds for that any time soon.
