Right drum backing plate just fell apart :(

Sorry. I don't remember where I bought the split plates from but they probably were for a gm product. Doesn't mean you couldn't make one yourself though.

so the job is Done, it tooks me and my friends 3.5 hours so this is really good ( thanks to the tech library )
so the problem wasn't the rust!! Only one of the two pin that hold the shoes broke, so the shoes got in angle in the drum and just jam... thats the only things that can explain what happen, cause there was not a lot of ice in the drum just a thin film.
the jam drum was a pain in the ass to remove... the axle seal to, even with the right tool?? dont know why got it remove with a pick...

so it takes :
feetbrake wire
brake line
drum
shoes
drum cylinder
spring kit
axle seal
lsd aditif
diff oil
dot3 oil
and it cost 350$ and my freind got a warm garage for 0$ thanks to him
i'll post a picture of the remove backing plate soon!

Got pics of the backing plate off the axle yet? Congrats on getting her back on the road. $350 is a little steep, but as long as you used good parts you shouldn't have to mess with it again for a while. Just be sure you got that axle seal right, it will kill the friction material on the new shoes righ tquick if it leaks. Have you looked over the other side since your repair? I would if I was you, just to be sure you haven't got a pin ready to let go over there, or any other issue for that matter. For me any axle I have $350 in is Damn sure a keeper.

like a stupid i just change the right backing plate and right axle seal and then close the diff and refill it with oil....:icon_rofl:
when it was the time to reattach the right feet brake wire to the front one, it miss like an inch to clip, so i decide to remove the left drum to gain the inches i need, as soon as the left drum was remove i saw oil traces and was pissed off...:icon_thumby: But luckily nothing was broken in this one except the axle seal...
i'll do it as soon as the temperature warm up a little bit, and it is not a big leak but since the diff was open and the pin was remove i would prefer to do the left one at the same time... i learn from my mistake lol

here is the pics :
