On the other note, sorry for the loss of your dog, they definatelly can become a part of the family and can be as painful as loosing a member of the family.

She was a pure bred American Pit Bull Terrier and registered with the AADR/ADBA. She has more ribbons then that... but I can't take a picture with them all and her now.

That really does suck. That was just wrong. If there were no other circumstances, I don't know how they justified what was done. Did animal control already have your dog when you found out about it?

Man my dogs have killed at least 3 of the neighbors cats. I have an electric fence, anything comes in my yard gets killed. They have killed coons, groundhogs, cats. You name it they kill it.

Sorry your dog had to be put down but the owner is ultimately responsible when a dog is allowed to roam. That said the cat must have died a horrific death. The dog had displayed very aggressive behavior by killing the cat so should have been put down for public safety.

The dog was roaming, but the cat must also have been roaming to get attacked. I highly doubt the dog entered the cats home and attacked it. A pit killing a cat does not endanger public safety IMO. If the cat was roaming and shot and killed by a pellet gun, the shooter most likely would not face charges as the cat was roaming freely, being a pest, etc. It has happened before and most likely will happen again. I see the dog in the same light. What is or isn't a pest is personal opinion.


I'm sorry this guy had to down you some more after what you're going through. I hope you remember all the good times with your dog and know shes in a better place.

Wow, I'm sorry something like this had to happen. And these other guys are right about Pits not being mean dogs. We had a pitbull/boxer mix that died a little over a year ago (cancer) best dog we've ever had. They are wonderful as pets. Sorry for your loss but try not to be upset at losing the pet, but rather stay happy with the good memories you shared.

Mice are well known for carrying diseases, cat kills mice- cat gets disease- cat scratches you- you get disease.

That sucks. People paint all dog of the same breed with the same brush. And big of tough dogs scare them. I had a mastiff for years that was gentle as could be but people were still worried about him because he was big.

sorry your dog was put down but hats off to her for taking down a cat! if the cat was able to be taken down by a dog, well thats just survival of the fitest. not too many cats can't get away from a dog.

I am so sorry this happened, she was such a beautiful lil girl. Coming from a place were dogs are not only companions but working partners and guardians of their humans that they own this breaks my heart. May she be blessed as she crosses the great river to be with her elders and family who have gone before and who all frolic like puppies as they welcome her. To them we say NIA'Wen (thank you)

that sucks, you know i have never seen a pit bite someone. but i havew seen vicious rat dogs like yorkies and taco bell dogs bite people all the time, and they dont get put down.

We should apply the same logic/punishment to local politicians who make these absurd laws: If one of them chooses a path that causes one of their electorate loss (for the 1st offense) then we, the electorate, take him from wherever he is by black van, transport him to a medical facility where he will be injected with Sodium thiopental, Pancuronium, then Potassium chloride, then left alone to die.

I see my Atticus almost every night, and he is so calm, and when I speak to him his ears drop, he becomes relaxed/willing to serve/make me happy...I always kneel down and put my face to his and he licks my face. He's a good dog...I hope he never kills a cat...I pity the animal control officer that comes for him ;-)
