I am having to replace my hubs and bearing assembly on my 98' Ranger 3.0 4x4. It seems like the more I tare into my front end, the more broken parts I find or the more stuff I break 
. So far I have everything ordered (replacing the OEM vac hubs with a set of AVM hubs) but the oil seal on the steering knuckle has been damaged and I am trying to figure out how to replace it. I already ordered two new ones from ford ($37 each), but tonight I was trying to pop the old ones out and it was a loosing battle 
. As of now I have done nothing but butcher the old seal with a screwdriver in attempt to scrape it out, but I do not want to pit the inside of the knuckle and I cannot figure out how on earth these thing comes out, much less how you get a new one in. Anyone ever done this before? I was reading in my shop manuel and they made a reference to a "seal replacer tool" and a "depth setting tool", are these required for replacing this piece? Anyway to get it on with standard shop tools? Can the bottom TRE be removed without replacing it?
