I have an 04 ranger with the 3.0 and 5 speed manuall tranny. the clutch master cylinder is having problems and i have had it in the shop where they agree its the master cylinder but the problem was not all the time so i have been driving it and its starting to have a problem more often so i need to get it replaced. the shop told me they could replace it for about 250-300$ with everything, parts/labor/bleeding the system. I found a master cylinder at the auto parts store for about 50 bucks. I went to school to work on diesel trucks so im pretty good with mechanical work but i have never changed a master cylinder on a ranger and was wondering if anyone has or if there is a lot of work or special tools required. just debating weather or not i want to attempt it or let the shop do it.

its easy, the hardest part is bleeding it. just unhook the clutch pedal pushrod. remove the fluid line and unbolt from the firewall

up in the TECH section there is a whole series of how-to's on R&R the clutch system, or a search on clutch master cyls will give you about a hundred differeent ways to bleed.
