I am rebuilding the 4.0 engine from my 92 Ranger. I am replacing the old stock cam with an aftermarket cam, and would also like to start with a clean slate by replacing all the lifters. However, the only replacement lifters I can find (other than OEM at nearly $60 each) are made by Sealed Power at $38 each. It doesn't take much thought to know I don't want to spend $450-$500 on lifters.
Especially not while knowing I can get a set of 16 for a ford 5.0 for $129.
Does anyone know of a lifter set up that will work in lieu of OEM style? My next step is the mike the old lifters and find aftermarket lifters that will match the clearance. And probably order custom sized rods.
