I’ve got a ‘98 ranger 3.0 that had the pcm fry out after stalling. When it initially happened, there was fuel in my air box and in the oil and engine wouldn’t turn. Had starter rebuilt, replaced bad relays and fuses. Hooked up a scanner and got a comm error. Opened up pcm and noticed a burn mark one of the processors. Found a used pcm out of another 98 3.0, hooked it and truck started. Let it run for about 20 minutes and shut it off to put holding plate back over computer. Restarted truck and drove it down the road and back to shop. Cut it off and now it won’t restart. Engine just turns. Hooked scanner back up and I’m getting another comm error. What could be the issue and is it possible I fried another pcm?

What fuses were blown? Better question why were they blown? Also... you had fuel in the airbox and engine oil? :icon_confused:

Yes gas in air box and oil. Haven’t figured that one out yet. Hasn’t happened since. I changed the oil as well. It was the clutch pedal position sensor/starter interrupter fuse. It actually blew again about 30 minutes ago. That has me wondering if there’s a short in the cpp sensor

Or could it be a ground issue?
