Repaint ... which colour???

I really liked this color, its 94 currant red.

Don't toss out the two-tone option. Its a bit tougher to paint (not much though) and if done right, can look good and not be so run-of-the-mill two-tone like a factory truck. Here's a few pics of my ranger, its three-tone really, as the black and (factory ford sapphire blue, actually) are separated by a shadow metallic stripe (as posted on page 1).

and for more pics of it and my candy mandarin orange firebird (orange can look good, i promise :)) www.cardomain.com/id/zapper2003 (all pics of both vehicles are under my trucks page)

Here's the color I am looking at for mine. I want to go with a tan interior.

do what a guy on top truck challenge did, went out n got his truck dirty, then clear coated over the mud!!!:icon_cheers:

hahaha, just kidding.

i want to paint my truck ford blue myself, its tan right now but i dk how that would look with tan/black interior?!

i say....go blue

How about and old color from back then like Calypso Coral? One of my favorites. Or Laser Red (do they still paint new Fords This one?)

For you superdave, yes, thats my Firebird :yup: 13 coats! (gold base, orange candy and clear)

Wow, lots of new ideas, awesome!

I talked with a friend who knows a lot more than I do about all this, and he suggested I rule out metallic colours, because the flaking would gather in the nooks/crannies/cracks and end up looking like crap.
He also said that any lighter colour (such as my favoured light silver) would show rust after a month (remember I'm in Canada ... rust can not be avoided).
So basically, I'm thinking of going red or yellow, with the FX4 scheme kinda thing.

As much as I loooove the metallic orange or Calypso Coral ... I have a hard time seeing it fit for the mighty Ranger ...

zapper, I kinda like that 2 tone ... I may end up doing this ... but with vynil (+ clear vynil ... supposedly looks great) for the sides, it will protect from trail pinstripes like no other!!!

wvcat, I like that red a lot, actually. Very clean.

I replaced the bed on that 94 and painted the bed, the cab and front end was original paint. It was a 94 with 170,000 miles...I liked that truck!

zapper, you may be a winner with that combo!!! I gave some more thought, and obviously in an effort to keep costs down, keeping the blue is the right option ... so here's what I'm aiming for.

Fix up the blue paint (a couple spots here and there) ... and lay thick white vynil wrap with clearcoat on the sides like zapper painted his! With some red pinstriping to ease the transition, it should look more Racing than I wished, but still perfectly acceptable.

i got the same problem with my bII im thinkin about spray in bed liner but on the whole thing what do you guys think or how would the roll your own stuff work to you think

Vinyl is the easy way out. Mine is all paint though. Whichever route you choose, get pics!
