If you remove the converter for 'off ' road use, do have to keep both O2 sensors in the loop? I am sure you must have the front sensor installed but what about the rear?? Just wondering

If you remove the converter it is against federal law even for off road use. The computer needs both inputs for better performance. Is there a reason why you want to remove the cat?

It's the original converter with 240,000 miles and now rusting thru the top. Don't know how much longer it's going to run and funds are tight. Other than that no particular reason.

Yea they are a bit spendy but you for sure want to repair the leak maybe you can cut that one out and weld an aftermarket one in. You want to check the muffeler also as the parts from the cat may have migrated in it also restricting flow. A good way to tell is have someone give it gas while you have your hand in front of the tailpipe the pressure should rise steady with the engine speed. Maybe you can find a good exhaust system at the bone yard for a good price. It is against the law to remove the cat but it dont have to be working you can knock out the guts it just has to be there. I just dont know how it will affect the computer I`m sure someone here will know better on what you can do.
