Removing pitman arm?

So I got a '93 Ranger that I only had for about a month now. I been bustin' my a$$ to put this Skyjacker 6'' class 2 on it. Well I need to get the damn pitman arm off. I went to Napa and bought a puller for it, and that was like $40. I got the puller on it. Got it has tight as I could, even used a cheater bar to get it on there a little tighter. The only prob is the diff is in the way, so I can't get a real good full swing at it. I soaked it in WD-40 and that didn't help any. I allready got the shocks, coils, sway bar linkages, and the axle all put together, so I don't wanna have to take all that off to drop the axle to make som eroom so I can get a good awing on it. I'm thinking of using an impact and hammering that puller down, but afraid I might destroy the gear box or break the puller.

If you can get an impact on it rattle it down and then give the bolt that presses up onto the sector shaft a couple wacks with a hammer and it should pop right off. Good luck

Yep, smacking it with a hammer while it has tension on it will usually pop it off.

I can't hit the screw of the puller hard cuz the diffs in the way. Just hit the side of the puller?

Hit the side of the pitman arm itself around the spline (the shock going thru it should knock it free)

You might also rest another hammer on the opposite side so that the shock from hitting it doesn't travel up the sector shaft of the box as much.

Can you droop the suspension to get more room to hit it?

Other option is to undo the 3 bolts that hold the box to the frame and rotate the box to get easier access to it.

Well I put the puller on a couple of days ago. Got it as tight as I could even used a cheater bar, sprayed some WD-40 on it, and just left it on there. Well today my dad crawled under there and he said the bolt was lose and he used a breaker bar and it came right off. He said it was lose. Wierd did it get lose from me gettin' it so tight and just letting pull on there for a few days with the WD-40?

It's possible (maybe as the WD penetrated, it allowed it to slip off)
