Removing Needles

I ordered some blue LEDs off of eBay to place behind the gauge cluster. Will they shine through as blue or will i have to scrape off the color tint? If i did have to remove the needles, what would be the best way to do it?

blue leds will show through the tint, i did my 89 not to long ago and they look great

Thanks. I was also thinking of changing the warning lights to red. Would red shine through the tint?
