Removing Cyl. Head -- Rocker Arm Bolts.

2000 Ford Ranger V6 4.0 @ 98,000mi

Trying to get down to the cylinder head here, have a burnt exhaust value in Cyl. #5.

Anyways,

I got the valve cover off and now I'm trying to loosen the rocker arm bolts and those suckers will not budge! Nothing is working, breaker bar, impact driver, I'm afraid to give it too much because I don't want to break anything.

Can somebody point me in the right direction?
 
Any signs that they've been messed with before? Mine were quite easy to take off.
 
I am pretty certian that the valve covers were never taken off before. I have really put my whole body behind a breaker bar and nothing. All three bolts are the same, won't budge.
 
That makes no sense. The torque spec on the sheet I have says they should be torqued to 24 lb-ft and then 90 degrees passed that. That's not very tight at all...
 
make sure you're turning the right way. it's easy to get turned around while you're workin under the hood. mine were easy as hell to get out, the headbolts should be giving you this problem, but even then, a breaker bar will get those out.
