I bought this truck. I probably can't answer all of your questions, but can get a few at least. Have had some trouble with it, been running poorly (but it is running, sensor related I'm thinking now), just haven't had any money to throw at it yet.
M5od-r2, typically behind Fords inline 6, in many (MANY) F150-250's. It probably isn't as good a tranny as the ZF, but they are way cheaper. It has held up well so far.
As far as the Sniper Tuning, I didn't recieve that, and I'm still stuck running the current tune (hoping that isn't why I'm running poorly, seemed to run well when I bought it). I'm not sure I understand your question, but its my understanding that Sniper plugs into the OBDII to reflash the computer, with tuning done on a computer and written to a file (to be flashed to the computer). This is a '97 5.0, and I believe is EEC-V. You would have to check Snipers website for a list of engine computers it can tune.
