I usually install Ford remote starts, but as far as aftermarket goes I like the CompuStar starters as well. I know they have a simple stop/start system.
Factory ones are easier to install when you start dealing with door locks as the ford ones have the relays built in so it saves a few steps. If they are just stop/start its pretty straight forward. For a stop/star/lock/unlock it usually takes about 3-4 hours.
i was wondering if i could just go buy a factory remote start from ford and put in instead of buying an aftermarket one
cause i just want the stop start cause i have manual door locks or will that work with my manual door locks too?
With the PATS you will need to get a PATS modual and wire it in with the remote start so that the ignition sees the code from the chipped key so that it can start without the key actually being in it. Its just a box with power and ground and a wire that goes up and loops around the ignition cylinder.
Yes the ford remote starts are easier to install as they are made for a ford.
A factory ford start/stop will still cost around 200-300for just the remote start.
