Not sure about posible extra leaks. but i am tired of replacing starters, or at least autozone warranty is probably tired of replaceing them for free

your doing something wrong if your replacing starters at an abnormal rate.

a little motor oil on the casing doesnt hurt the starter. the tiny amount that penitrates the case isnt going to cause enough resistance in the amperage range that a starter operates to interfere with starter operation.

ive never seen a 3.0 that goes through starters at a higher rate than any other engine.

I've seen it. My mom likes to start here 6.0 Chevy Express while it's running, It's an 04 and I've put 4 starters in it already.
