Relocating My Battery

Got my ranger...4inch suspension rancho lift...pretty nice long travel on the way...my question is i need to redirect my battery because i need to install my MSD DIS-4 for my light bar...Where is the best place to direct my battery? I heard about putting it in the bed but im thinking about rain...how about some ideas for me i wanna do it today...thanks

put mine in the bed.
one passenger side,one driver side.used battery boxes made for boats.
you will need to anchor the battery to the bed thru the box.
dont use the flimsey strap that comes with them.

What about rain and stuff thought wont that mess all the electrical if it rains cause im lve in cali so it rains alot where im at...and you have 2 batteries? Whats hookede to both of them?

they are AGM sealed(like an optima) so it doesnt make any differance about the rain.the boxes have a lid also.

one runs the truck itself.
the other is for acc. loadssuch as lights and hopefully a nice new winch pretty soon.

i have an isolater under the hood that seperates them after the alt.

rainwater isnt a problem for "big" 12v items like batterys (sealed or no), lights, starters, ect. fresh water is a poor conductor of electricity.

you could drive your truck into a lake and the lights would still light and the starter would still turn over (though the engine wouldnt ).

plus boat battery boxes come with snap on lids to keep crap off the top of the battery (mostly to keep it from getting shorted out should something metal fall on it).

When I did mine I got the wire from a welding shop, best wire for the job and the 12 extra feet of wire I didn't need for the install I used to make a nice set of jumper cables, much, much better than those .99 cent jumpers from any car parts store.

I've had two pair of those jumper cables, both mysteriously vanished. Much better than anything you can buy at chinamart!

You would have a hard time finding the battery in the Black Frog without laying on your back. It is under the box. Use up wasted space rather than wasting space that you can use.

1 or aught gauge cable for jumper cables with 5lb clamps, 20ft each strand. welded, sealed (by gasket) battery box under each side of the bed behind the cab. Deep cycle, heavy use batteries with 2x the Ford recommended CCA for my truck.
