Relocating 60/40 bench seats forward

Sorry if this has been covered before but I could not find it doing multiple searches. My wife is on the short side and her feet have trouble hitting the pedals with the drivers portion of the bench all the way forward in our 92 XLT. I'm going to do the zip tie fix which will get the gas pedal closer to her foot but was looking for a relatively easy way to relocate the seat forward or otherwise gain a few inches for her without resorting to pillows.

Are you certain that the seat is going into the full forward position ? My 60/40 driver side goes forward enough to crush a very short person. Your track may have something obstructing its movement. One other thing, does your truck have a floor console thats not factory installed ? If it does, is it coming in contact with it ? Sometimes its the little things that get missed. Anything is possible ! Welcome to the club.

If Shadow's idea doesn't help, instead of relocating the seat rails remove the seat from the rails and remount it more forward on the rails.

If you are talking an inch. If you need 4", you could still do the same thing but the front may need support bracket fashioned on each side ..)

+1 on moving seat placement on the bracket/frame

You can just do the drivers side if you want

The frame is bolted to the floor and the seat is bolted to the frame

So you can unbolt the seat from the frame and bolt it to the frame farther forward

You can use flat steel bars on top of rails to extend in either direction, not much of a change in height

In earlier models the sliding rails are bolted not welded to the frame, so can some times be moved forward as well

Changing the frame mount to the floor would be much harder, in my opinion
But you can use spacers and longer bolts in the front and then extension flat steel bars in the rear, I would NOT drill a new mounting hole in the floor, where its bolted now is re-enforced to hold seat in place in an accident

My grandmother was a woman of great determination but short on stature
After my grandfather passed away, he ALWAYS drove, I installed brake pedal and gas pedal blocks in their car so she could drive it
It was a 1968 Cadillac, IIRC, with power full bench seat up front which I did not want to mess with, lol

The wife always reminds me that it is "our truck", so no blocks on the pedals Did the zip tie fix and looks like a little pillow to raise her up and we are good to go. Was going to say phone book but none of the younger members would know what that was...
