Well, PJ, 3/4 of my grandparents were actually born in Saskatchewan. Grandpa Koch (he's the AF mechanic I mentioned above) is the interesting story of the lot. His ancestors are originally from Germany, near the border with France. In the early 1800's, there was a lot of tension in the area, so they fled to present day Ukraine. In the 1890's, when Russia started putting pressure on the Ukraine, they came to Saskatchewan. His wife, my grandmother, is the only one not born in Saskatchewan. She was born and raised in North Yorkshire (England, not far from Leeds, in fact). The story goes that during WWII, everybody did their part. Grandma worked in the fields. One night, she went into a nearby pub, where Grandpa happened to be. They met, fell in love, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Volia. Now I have heat without idiling, and have an emergency way to mitigate an overheat situatuon even if the radiator falls off the truck. Whole second cooling system, complete with second backup water pump.

Does a factory engine warmer do that too?
I haven't investigated but my Explorer has a dealer sticker from MN, and an electric socket tucked into the grill, I think it has the engine heater, although I'll never need it down here in the south

The engine heater keeps the engine coolant warmer than ambient temp, but not really enough to provide heat to the cabin.
E.g.; my truck will start at -40, but it starts a lot easier if the heater is plugged in.

I've seen you bragging about other crap that you refused to fix, even though it made your vehicle DANGEROUS. Do us all a favour, and get that heap of scrap OFF THE ROAD before you KILL somebody!!!!

Just because i dont run out and fix every little thing right away does not make them unsafe.

Guess how many mechanical related accidents ive had?

So i must be doin something right.

All i try to point out is that some people freak out way to much over every little issue.

I'd like to see Rusty's daily drivers... Like the suspension, frame and exterior just to see how "safe" they are. We hear so much about them but never see them doing all the stuff you say they can do. I've heard you talk non stop about your 460 and blah blah blah. Not trying to start anything I would just like to see if he is really driving something unsafe or not. They way he talks about them makes me think of ratchet straps holding ball joints in place and bungee cords on everything. lol. See picture and then imagine someone saying "see, I told you it was fine".... We live in the rust-belt Rusty..... DONT TRUST THE RUST...

I saw an f250 yesterday that had the bed raked about 30 degrees down in the front where it aparently rotted completely through. The wheel well had obvious signs of a tire falling off as well. My first thought was "what's rusty doing in NJ?"

Old stuff requires the driver to pay closer attention: there were no anti stop brakes(ABS)- if you stood on the pedal like a dummy the tires slid but if you knew how to drive you could actually stop on a slippery road, there was no clutch safety switch- if you hit the starter when in gear the vehicle would move, the vehicle might have a clutch pedal, if you weren't looking where you were going you might hit the car in front of you because they didn't auto-brake. There's a lot of unnecessary, expensive b/s on vehicles now to enable the knuckleheads who do things like texting while they are supposed to be driving that cost all of us money.

I just found out my moms new edge has automatic high beams... I took it to get the oil changed Saturday night and the high beams kept going off and on anytime a car passed. I'm sure that system wont have any issues in 5 years when it starts high beaming cops...

My wife's new Subi Outback Touring does the same thing. It also beeps at me when I change lanes if I don't use the signal, beeps and flashes at me when I get to close to the road edge, flashes at me when another vehicle is coming up from behind,. When she or I have been driving for awhile, it asks me if I want to take a break, and if I need to know where next rest stop is. It will also let me know when it's low on gas (as if the gauge wasn't enough) and if it would like it to find the nearest gas station.
Damn thing is more intelligent than I am.
And, I'll never ever be able to figure out all the gobbledegook that the radio,phone/bluetooth, ect, does. Hell, I can just barely understand how to program my tv remote !!!

Toast, definitely toast. Peanut Butter gets all gooey and squishes out .
Gets in my beard so I can snack on it later.
And, it just has to be Super Chunky or Extra Crunch!!!

A vehicle, any vehicle, regardless of condition is only as safe as whos behind the wheel.

Would i let my wife drive my ranger, or 77? Hell no.
