Refer Madness

And how does a refrigeration unit run? A generator or an electric motor? Does it have its own fuel supply?

A few years ago, I could have answered that question. Now it escapes me.
My company used to have union truck drivers, and they'd drop off the trailer and leave. It would be up to us to shut the refrigeration off, which I would sometimes offer to do - mostly as an excuse to go outside for a quick smoke. Shutting them off consisted of simply flipping a switch on the outside, cab-end of the trailer.

Now my company uses non-union, maniac drivers who get paid by the load, are always in a hurry, and often dump pallets over in their trailers in their quest to get their deliveries done as fast as possible.
